The Public Broadcaster
When Southern California’s premier
public broadcasting station needed help to produce
a cutting edge, high quality educational product, they
turned to Intellikey Labs for testing during the many
phases of project development. A spin-off product from
a highly acclaimed and historically important series,
the DVD two disc set was slated to include unique content
and user capabilities. The broadcaster successfully
utilized Intellikey Signature Testing resources and
consulting services to produce their special project.
The DVD project was packed full of video
clips, historical photographs and archived material,
recreations of key moments in the historical timeline,
personal testimonies and teaching curriculum compiled
in a comprehensive and complex-to-navigate production.
Intellikey assessed the project and recommended pre-production
Usability testing and comprehensive check disc prior
to mass replication and packaging.
Intellikey Signature Usability Testing
is designed to help clients create user friendly product
through intensive human interface testing. This phase
of testing included proofing of the content for accuracy
and interpretation, as well as computer compatibility
testing on a custom matrix. The Intellikey testing
process and recommendations enabled the PBS team and
their production house to gain vital insight during
the creative process that effectively enhanced the
end user experience of the product.
As the project neared the final production
process, Intellikey Signature Testing was once more
employed to test check discs on the custom computer
matrix for playability in a representative range of
configurations and for functionality to ensure that
the final product met all aspects of its intended design
and use for the consumer. The Intellikey reporting
for this testing overwhelmingly satisfied the broadcaster’s
goals to create the quality product their brand has
become widely known for producing.
